Marymount University Inks Admissions Agreement

ARLINGTON, Va. and HAGERSTOWN, Md. (April 17, 2018) – Marymount University and St. Maria Goretti High School of Hagerstown, Maryland, have signed an agreement that guarantees St. Maria Goretti graduates admission to MU, along with four-year renewable scholarships.  

The only Catholic university in Virginia, Marymount is also the commonwealth’s only college or university with a guaranteed admission agreement with St. Maria Goretti High School. Located just six miles from Washington, D.C., it features an average class size of 16 and a culture of engagement that fosters intellectual curiosity, service to others and a global perspective.    

“This partnership is a natural fit,” said Francesca Reed, Marymount’s associate vice president for enrollment management. “We have a mutual goal of enhancing access to high quality Catholic education that is values-based and promotes intellectual and spiritual development.”   

“Goretti couldn’t be more thrilled to have such a quality university to partner with,” said Christopher Cosentino, president of St. Maria Goretti High School.    

Under the terms of the agreement:St. Maria Goretti students with a 3.0 grade point average (no required test score) or a 2.8 GPA and a 1030 SAT (or a 20 ACT composite) are guaranteed admission to Marymount.

Students will be awarded a minimum $12,500 scholarship from Marymount, renewable annually for up to four years, provided they maintain good academic standing.
Students will be awarded an additional $4,000 Goretti Catholic High School scholarship, renewable for up to four years of full-time enrollment.

A Marymount admissions representative will visit the high school throughout the school year to share information about its academic programs and application, admissions, financial aid and related processes.
